The literary-memorial museum of the famous poet, writer, outstanding public figure and statesman Saken Seifullin was opened February 20, 1988 by decision of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, in the city of Tselinograd, now known as Astana.
The complex of buildings of the museum is directly related to Saken Seifullin. The first building is a wooden log house in 1847, once in 1920, were placed the administrative offices, where worked S.Seifullin.
Now in these chambers located thematic exposition that reflects the entire life and work of the writer. The second building, where located the museum funds and the staff offices, built in 1890, belonged to a friend of Saken Seifullin, one of the characters of his famous historical and memoir novel "Tar Zhol, tayghaq keshu" ( "The thorny path") - the doctor F.A. Blagoveshchensky.
Both of these buildings are architectural monuments of wooden architecture of the late XIX century, protected by the law and the state. Near the museum, on the street that bears the name of the poet, in 1994, the 100th anniversary of the birth, a monument of Saken Seifullin was erected.
With the acquisition of the city in 1998 The status of the capital, the Museum of Saken Seifullin - his exposition, the museum building, territorial complex endured great changes. Were carried out restoration work of two buildings, the total re-exposition of the museum, opened room for large events, meetings, literary and musical evenings living.
At the beginning of the opening of the museum funds totaled about 600-700 units. At this stage, there are 6,000 items, of which - 2900 general fund units, 3100 units - scientific and auxiliary fund.
Among the exhibits - the writer's personal belongings: his typewriter, a gold watch, caftan and skullcap, pen and ink set, costume. The museum is fully recreated in detail study of the poet, as well as the room where his family lived.
