Musa Bayzhanuly (1835-1929) was the Kazakh composer, akyn, poet. In a childhood Musa sang and played dombra, kobyz, syrna, and also on the exotic for the steppe musical instrument - a violin. Zhayau Musa's creativity developed in close connection with traditions of folk art.
Many songs by Zhayau Musa differ a progressive civic stand of the author: Aksisa, Haulau, Tolgau, Suyundyk; there are lyrical songs in creativity of the composer: Sholpan, “Salem kyzdar”, “Gaukhar kyz”; there are the songs singing of the nature of the native land: “Bayan aul”, Ulytau, Karshyga, Kogershin.
Zhayau Musa was also the author of kuys: “Kyz kuy”, Kyui Kozbaly, Kamshylau. He left us a rich literary heritage. Except the known lyrical poem Olzhabay batyr, he wrote a set of verses. There are still many eloquent expression by Musa in the people. The image of Zhayau Musa is recreated in the same name novel by Z.Akishev's.
