Akhtanov Takhavi (1923-1994) was the the national writer of Kazakhstan. In 1940 he entered the Abay KazPI University. Akhtanov Takhavi was the participant of the Great Patriotic War.
Akhtanov Takhavi worked in the Kazakh state publishing house (1948-1951), on the Kazakhfilm film studio (1951-53), was the editor of such magazines as Adebiet zhane art (Literature and art, 1953-54), and in Zhuldyz (1971-1972); was the secretary of the Union of writers of Kazakhstan (1954-1957). Akhtanov Takhavi worked at responsible positions in art management of the government of KAZSSR (1957-58), in the state book chamber (1975-1984).
His first poems are published in front newspapers. In 1949 his verses were published in the collective collection Golos molodykh (A voice of young).
The first novel published in the press – Kakharly kunder. This novel was several times republished and was translated into Russian, German, etc. The novel truthfully describes the feat of the ordinary fighter in days of the Second World War. The books of the writer Makhabbat muny (1960г.), Dala syry (1963г.), novels Yuoran (1966г.), Shyragyn sonbesin (1973г.), Tandamaly shygarmalary (1974г.), collected works in 5 volumes (1958г.) were issued.
In 1966 the novel “Boran” was awarded the State award of KAZSSR. The novel was translated into Russian, Uzbek, Kirghiz, Tajik, Turkmen, Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Turkish, Ukrainian, Belarusian, etc. This book was especially appreciated in the Kazakh literature. Again having returned to a dilogy Shyragyn sonbesin, Akhtanov Takhavi showed the tragedy of war by eyes of the simple Kazakh woman.
Many drama works by Akhtanov Takhavi, plays Saule, Boran, Kutpegen kezdesu, Makhabbat muny, Ake men bala, Ant, Zhogalgan dos, Kushik kuyeu were several times staged in the Kazakh theater. As literary traditions in books Gabit Musrepov (1956г.), Keruyen (1969г.), Kokeikesti (1980г.) Akhtanov Takhavi took out on general discussion the thoughts and reasoning.
He translated into Kazakh Skazka o zolotom petushke (The fairy tale on the Golden Cockerel) by A.Pushkin, A.Tolstoy's novels Khozhdeniye po mukam (Purgatory), Kavaler Zolotoi Zvezdy” (Chevalier of the Gold Star) by Babayevsky, works by I.Turgenev, M. Gorkiy, other prominent writers. Awarded of Patriotic war І and ІІ degrees awards, The honor Sign, the Labour Red Banner, “Friendship of the people award” and many other medals.
