Bekezhanov Nartay (1890-1954) was the Kazakh akyn, composer.
He was born in the Chiiliysky region of Kyzylorda area. Nartay started to sing songs when he was 10 years. In creativity of Bekezhanov Nartay inequality problems in society, hypocrisy of rich landowners, mullahs (“Saran baiga”, “Myrzalyk yemes”) are reflected.
Songs of the akyn called poor people for fight for the human rights, condemned cattle-lifting and an amengerstvo (old tradition in Central Asia when after the death of husband his wife was given to his older or younger brother). Bekezhanov Nartay participated in aitys with such akyns as Nurlybek Baymuratov, Kazangap Baybolov. The songs of Bekezhanov Nartay Tolkyn, Nartay sazy, “Osiyet terme” are widely popular and loved in the people. M.
