Bekhozhin Kalizhan (December 15, 1913, Pavlodar - October 2, 1990, Almaty) was the Kazakh poet, playwright, and translator.
Kalizhan Bekhozhin was the member of the Union of writers of Kazakhstan (1936), the National writer of the Kazakh SSR (1986), the winner of the State award of Kazakh SSR (1978), one of the participants of the Great Patriotic War, and honorable citizen of Pavlodar city (1985).
Kalizhan Bekhozhin graduated from KazPI in 1938. In 1932-1934 he was the employee of editorial office of the Pavlodar newspaper Kolkhoz (Collective farm) where Bekhozhin published thishe first poems and sketches. In 1938-1942 Bekhozhin worked in Central Committee Lenin Young Communist League publishing house of Kazakhstan, in the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, the Kazakh scientific research institute of national culture. Since 1942-1946 he worked as the war reporter. In 1946-49 Kalizhan Bekhozhin was the research associate of Institute of language and literature of the Kazakh branch of Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Since 1949 he was on creative work.
Kalizhan Bekhozhin was the winner of the State award of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (1978), awarded two Labour Red Banner awards, a Friendship of the people award, Patriotic war of the 2nd degree award and several medals.
Some streets, School No. 12, and the memorial board in Pavlodar are called by Kalizhan Bekhozhina's name (1991).
