Moldagaliev Zhuban – Kazakh poet, translator, journalist, National writer of Republic of Kazakhstan, was born on September 5, 1920 in village Saikudyk of Taipak area in Ural region, in a family of poor peasant.
Before war started he graduated from agricultural technical school. From 1940 to 1947 he was in ranks of the Soviet army, and was the participant of the Great Patriotic War. At the front he served as the ordinary gunner, the deputy political leader, the commissioner of the battery, and the war reporter.
After the war he worked in a newspaper editorial office called “Лениншiл жас” (1948-1952), “Қазақ әдебиетi” (1955-1956), magazine “Жұлдыз”(1958-1963), first secretary of board of the Kazakhstan’s Union of writers (1953–1954, 1963–1971).
Beginning of his poetic creativity belongs to the end of the thirtieth — the beginning of the fortieth. Here we have to notice one important detail, which has direct bearing on the beginning of his career at the period of war. The matter is that from the first days of the work as the war correspondent, he was in direct contact with such representatives of the Russian Soviet poetry, as Sergey Mikhalkov, Mikhail Svetlov, Stepan Shchipachev. And they made salutary impact on the creative growth of the Kazakh colleague on a feather. Military newspapers “Фронтовая правда”and “За победу” gave him a good journalistic training.
First collection of his verses called “Жеңic жырлары” was published in 1949. Zhuban Moldagaliyev's poems are full with civil motives, lyrical mood. In the poem “Жыр туралы” (1963) he wrote of heroism of the Tatar poet, Hero of the Soviet Union – Musa Dzhalil. In the poem “Жыр туралы” (1965) he showed a difficult share of the Kazakh women in the past and their fight for the happiness in the present. Life of the Kazakh people, national features are shown in the poem “Мен қазақпын” from realistic positions. In the lyrical poem “Айттым селем”(1967) sang of love and courage. The poem “Kiceн ашқан”(1969) written based on the kyu of Kurmangaza with the same name, it thoughtfully narrates about the spiritual growth of the people. For this work, where his poetic talent was brightly shown, he was awarded with the State award by the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic (1970). In 1970 the two-volume collection of the chosen works of the poet was published. Zhuban Moldagaliyev productively worked also in the field of a literary translation and journalism. His works translated into many languages. Some were published in English, German, Arab, Spanish, Polish, Mongolian, French, Hungarian and other languages.
In the works the poet sings of the native land with its huge transformations, glorifies people of work, the new person — the creator and the fighter. Blossoming of the native republic, friendship of the people — the central themes in Zh. Moldagaliyev's creativity, the poet age-mate of the republic.
In only 50 years of work in literature hundreds of lyrical verses, more than fifteen poems were written by him. For two last “The eagle steppe”, “Mudflow”, he got the USSR State award, and the book “Broken Fetters”, is noted by State award named after Abai.
