Zharmagambetov wrote: “It is difficult not to notice bright, frankly talented poetry of Assel Omar, where courage and freedom of a verse is similar to absence of fear of height: the poet isn't afraid of the even traditionally difficult, “closed” subjects. Exact as if photographic saturated chronicles gradually foretell the tragedy of the country and people at the beginning of the XX century expressed through history of one family”. Stories and poems were published in “The collection of modern Kazakhstan prose”, “The anthology of the Kazakhstan poetry”, “Not only love”, “mass media and culture”, in the Russian and Kazakhstan literary magazines the Prostor, “Niva”, Youth, “Scene”, “Tamyr”, are translated into the French and English languages ("Missives", "Youth"), reviews - in “The literary newspaper”.

The story “Black Snow of December” about December events in Alma-Ata of 1986 called by A. Kodar “fear anatomy” became the existential manifesto of the generation, which is given rise in the 70th: its stylistics, intentionally chaotic, reflect chaos and turmoil of our reality which can't be transformed by means of the consciousness which is held down by fear.
