Sygai Ashirbek Turebayevich – professor of art criticism department of the Kazakh national academy of arts named after T. Zhurgenov, the honored worker of arts of KAZSSR, the winner of the State award of Kazakhstan, the honourable citizen of Kentau and Turkestan, the author of books “Видеть прекрасное” (“To See Good”), “Здравствуй, театр” (“Hi, Theatre”), writer, critic, translator, teacher, professor.

Native citizen of the city Kentau in the Southern Kazakhstan area. Graduated from Kazakh State Institute of arts named after Kurmangazy. He worked as a teacher at Kyrgyz National State Institute of art, the head of the department, the head of department for arts of the Ministry of Culture of KAZSSR.

In 1979-1983 - the instructor of cultural department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan.

In 1983-1988 - the deputy minister of culture of KAZSSR.

In 1988-1989 - the head of department of arts, the vice-chairman of the State committee of KAZSSR on culture.

In 1989-1991 - the rector of Almaty theatrical and art institute.

In 1992-1994 - the First Deputy Minister of Culture of Kazakhstan. He was awarded with order “Құрмет”.
