Darkhan Kydyrali (born April 16, 1974, Tulkibas district of the South Kazakhstan region) is a Kazakh scholar, writer and statesman who is currently the President of the International Turkic Academy. Doctor of History, Kydyrali is the Laureate of “Daryn” State Youth Award and a member of the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan and the International “PEN” Сlub.
Kydyrali Darkhan Kuandykuly, born on April 16, 1974 in Tulkibas district of the South Kazakhstan region. He studied at the Republican boarding school № 2 with intensive study of the Kazakh language and literature in Almaty. Since 1988, his poems and articles have been publishing in the Republican publications. He was the winner of the Republican Contest of high-school students on the Kazakh language and literature (1991).
He studied at Kazakh National University (1991-1992) and the universities of Turkey - Marmara (1992-1996), Dokuz Eylyul (1996-1997), the Ege (1997-1998), the Istanbul (1998-2001). In 1998, in the Ege University, he defended his doctoral thesis on the theme “Life, work and worldview of Mustafa Shokai”. In the Istanbul University, he defended his doctoral thesis theme “Jadidism movement in Turkestan and its relationship with Turkey” (2001) and gained the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy. He defended his doctoral thesis on the theme “The idea of a united Turkestan” in Abay Kazakh National University (2010). He is Professor of L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, the Istanbul University, Mimar Sinan University in Turkey. Raising of qualification: Cairo University in Egypt (2006), the International Institute of Linguistics in Washington, (2013). He did an internship for State employees. He is Grant Holder of “Bolashak” government program. He has researched: Mustafa Shokai, idea of Turkestan, personalities of Alash, history of the Kazakhs, personalities of the Turkic world, the problems of the Turkology, history of literature and spirituality. He worked in the archives funds and research libraries in such cities as Istanbul, Ankara, Kazan, Ufa, Orenburg, Baku, Tashkent, Almaty, Kokand, Samarkand, Bukhara, Cairo, Paris, Washington. Many works and poetries of thinkers of the Turkic peoples were translated into the Kazakh language by him. He was a participant of the international fundamental research projects and international scientific conferences. He is the author of educational collections and monographs. He is a member of editorial boards of several scientific journals, literary and educational journals. About 300 scientific and educational and journalistic articles were published in periodicals. His works were published in Turkey, the USA, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Czech Republic, China and Russia.

In 2012 he was on the board of Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan. From 2012-2014 he was Deputy Secretary-General of the Turkic Council. Since 2014 he has been working as President of the International Turkic Academy.[1] He was the academician of the Aitmatov Academy He was awarded with Letter of Thanks and medals for labor merits by the Head of the State. He has diplomatic rank of First class First Secretary.
