Biography

Mukhametkali Khassenov was born in 1927 in the village Nauvaly of Semipalatinsk region. He graduated from All-union state institute of cinematography on 1961.

He worked in various newspapers and publishing houses, the literary consultant of section of dramatic art and film art of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan, and was the editor-in-chief of a repertoire editorial board of the Ministry of Culture of Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. Now — the manager of literary part of Republican theater for children and youth.

The main genre of creativity is dramatic art. The plays “Сары-Арка” (“Sary-Arka”, 1959), “Потерянный дневник” (“The lost diary”, 1962), “Мысли вслух” (“Thoughts aloud”, 1964), “Почему не проснулась Махаббет” (“Pochemu ne prosnulas Makhabbet”, 1966), “Следователь” (“Investigator”, 1967), “Вдова” (“Widow”, 1970), “Буревестник” (“Petrel”, 1971) were written by him and till nowadays going on the scenes of theatres. He is the author of film scripts “Ботагоз” (“Botagoz”) and “Мудрость” (“Wisdom”).

He was awarded with the diploma of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic.
