80 Birthday and 20 Death day of Sagi Zhiyenbayev - adebiportal.kz

Today is the 80th anniversary of the birth and 20 years after the death of Sagi Zhiyenbayev – a Kazakh poet.

Sagi Zhiyenbayev - a poet, a lyric poet, was born on May 15, 1934 in the village of Oymauyt Bayganinsky region of the Aktyubinsk area. Died on May 15, 1994 in Almaty.

Sagi Zhiyenbayev is an author of many widely known poetic books. His first collection of poems Swallow (“Ласточка”) went out in 1959. Then poetic collections Gift (“Подарок”), A steppe flower (“Степной цветок”), Secret of the sea (“Тайна моря”), At dawn (“На заре”), My neighbor (“Мой сосед”), Good morning (“С добрым утром”), White waves (“Белые волны”), Gazelle (“Газель”), I remember that spring (“Я  помню  ту  весну”), Alija (“Алия”), A gold feather (“Золотое   перо”), Oymauyt (“Оймауыт”), Blossoming season (“Пора цветения”), Lark (“Жаворонок”), Love terrestrial (“Любовь  земная”), Bird of happiness (“Бақ құсы”) and many other poems got by deep thoughts about life, nature, high mission of art were issued. 

Sagi Zhiyenbayev wrote about native land, about its unusual beauty.

                                         Умолкла вьюга – вот  и   слышно  мне
                                         После  ее   жестокого  набега, 
                                         Как   белая   береза   в   тишине 
                                         Роняет  на   сугробы   комья   снега. 
                                      
Sagi Zhiyenbayev wrote many poems about childhood, beloved mother, friends to whom the poet always remained abide. 

                                          Родная   степь – любовь  моя, 
                                          Мир  добрый   радостного  детства! 
                                          И  дар   поэта – знаю я – 
                                         Ты подарила  мне  в   наследство.

The poet had quiet intonations, a low voice and, perhaps, the main thing that does him not similar to others, - surprising softness and kindness. 

                                             Я  так   хочу,   чтобы   стихи   мои 
                                             Играли   красками  весны,  цветов,  заката, 
                                             И  песни   им   дарили   соловьи, 
                                             И  ветер  дал   степные  ароматы! 
                                             Чтобы  тепло  невидимых   лучей 
                                             Они  несли   уставшим   и  гонимым 
                                             И  чтоб   читали   их  в  тиши   ночей 
                                             Влюбленные  своим   любимым!

S. Zhiyenbayev also fruitfully worked as a translator of world poetry. The immortal creations of Byron, Pushkin, Lermontov, Tumaniyan, Smelyakov, Gamzatov and other classics of the world literature brightly sounded in Zhiyenbayev’s translations into Kazakh. 

S. Zhiyenbayev’s books are translated and published in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Armenian, Kirghiz, Turkmen, Georgian, and also in German, Polish, Czech, Romanian, Mongolian, French and other languages.
