"Day of Slavic Literature and Culture" was held in Astana

Yesterday On 24th of  May , Astana hosted a scientific-practical conference "Slavic and Turkic cultural and language contacts: traditions and values". The conference was organized by republican coordination-methodical center of development of languages named after Shaysultan Shayakhmetov, which is  commissioned by the Committee on the development of language and social and political work of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The aim of the conference was to exchange views on various aspects of the functioning and preservation of the Slavic languages in ethnocultural space of Kazakhstan and the exchange of experiences in the field of Russian and other Slavic languages, discussing traditions and values of close interaction of Slavic and Turkic peoples at the turn of the century.

The event was dedicated to the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, known as the day of remembrance of the Slavic peoples first teacher - Saints Cyril and Methodius. In Kazakhstan this holiday is no less important than in Russia, every year on this day there are lots of exhibitions, conferences and concerts. According to Deputy Akim(Major) of Almaty on domestic policy, health care, education, culture, youth policy, the development of language Arman Kyrykbaev: "If we say that the book, love and desire for knowledge has always been a determining factor in the development of mankind, then surely we remember the merits of Cyril and Methodius - reformers of the Slavic alphabet. After all, their work is in no small measure contributed to the development of Slavic Writing and overall impact on the development of culture, and also served as a powerful self-growth stimulus not only Slavic, but also of many other nations, including Turkish. Since we always live side by side and in peace. "

The conference papers and presentations were made by well-known Kazakhstani scientists in the field of Slavic studies, Turkology and literature. In addition, the conference was attended by the Kazakh Parliament deputies, members of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, invited guests from the embassies of Slavic and Turkic states in Kazakhstan, known scientists and public figures, representatives of ethno-cultural associations and the media.
